Day 85: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Raised Ranch Style Homes

100 DAYS OF CENTRAL MASS FEATURES RAISED RANCH STYLE HOMES

Raised ranch style homes are a variation of the ranch style.  Unlike a traditional ranch, raised ranches have 2 stories.  The roof has been raised to provide some additional living space and they provide flexibility and space.

When you enter a raised ranch, you will see a flight of stairs that leads up to the main living area of the home and there is a finished lower level.  The lower level is at ground level or partially below.

Raised Ranch Style Home Features:

  • 2 Stories
  • Partially underground basement with finished rooms
  • Attached garage
  • Low pitched gable roof
  • Large windows
  • Asymmetrical

Another variation to the ranch style, closely resembling a raised ranch is the split ranch style.  Unlike the raised ranch, the split ranch is 3 stories.

We are in a raised ranch here in the mountains. Intersting post. In the mountains you can use the slope of the land to create a daylight basement. There are only 2 little spets up to the front door of our ranch But the basement, which we call terrace levels has 9 foot ceilings
