Whacky Old Man Winter Has Arrived - First Snowfall in Massachusetts Comes Early This Year

Whacky Old Man Winter flew into Massachusetts last night.  We are experiencing our first snowfall of the season in October!  This is pretty early considering the average time to see snow here is in mid-November!  The snow started on October 15th and is still going this morning on the 16th.  Everyone was shocked on my Facebook yesterday when I announced it was snowing.

I snapped these photos and a few videos while we were standing out waiting for the bus.  James Jr. snuck back inside the house when I wasn't looking...he told me it was "too cold to go to school"!  LOL The first snowfall is always much welcomed and fun to see, but then we hope it doesn't last too long!  Winters can be long and hard up here in New England.  Make sure you keep your pantry stocked with plenty of hot cocoa and you've got your firewood ready to go.  Stay warm and enjoy!

Kathleen, I hope you enjoy the snow.  This is why I choose to live in Maryland where we get snow 2-4 times a year.  I come from Mass. and remember the loooong Coooooooold winters.  Of course, there are many other wonderful things about Mass.   I visit 1x year.

Snow can be fun if I don't have to go out in it :o)! I am in Texas, so I don't see much snow!! Have fun!

Hi Debbie!

I have a friend in FL that was telling me it was 74 degrees at 7AM this morning.  I'm jealous!  I love to see the first snowfall, but this is EARLY!  Especially since we had no summer.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Kathleen

Hi Barbara!  What part of MA?  There are many other great things up here, so that's why we stay, but I do long for Florida or somewhere warm in the middle of the winters here!

Hi Brenda!  What part of TX?  James is from Duncanville close to Dallas.  We try to visit there every so often, I like it.  So different from up here.

Sincerely,

Kathleen

The first snow of the season is always fun, as long as you don't have to shovel.

Sorry to hear about the first snow. Although I would love to be under a blanket looking out the window but I am in 91 degree Florida today waiting for 70 high's to hit this weekend.

Hi Jeff!  No shoveling needed today!  =)

Jessica - 90 degrees!  Wowee!  I miss the heat...we didn't get much this summer, it was a rainy one!

Sincerely,

Kathleen

Kathleen, I'm not in New England, but in Rockland County, NY and we too had some snow yesterday - but thank goodness it didn't stick.  It's not that I don't like snow, it's the cold that I mind and Oct. 15 is just too earyly for that.  I was just beginning to enjoy Fall.

What a great idea to write JCKC in the snow! I Love IT!

I love it more because we didn't get any to stick here in CT!

Little James is too cute hiding from the bus LOL!

Kathleen

It seems that we went from summer in winter in a blink of an eye, stay warm.

Good luck and success.
