Sleepless in Sturbridge: Day 46: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Old Sturbridge Village

Day 46: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Old Sturbridge Village

Want to experience the true history of New England?  If you are ever in or around Central Mass you must visit the largest outdoor history museum in the Northeast, Old Sturbridge Village.  This 200+ acre museum first opened it's doors in June of 1946.  For over 60 years, Old Sturbridge Village has been educating today's generations about the history that took place between 1790-1840.  Schools in Massachusetts and the surrounding states often take field trips to OSV in their history classes.

During a trip to Old Sturbridge Village you will walk around on dirt roads and visit over 40 original buildings that have been carefully researched and restored and that resemble buildings around New England.  These include homes, schools, meeting houses and more.  The people that work and volunteer at Old Sturbridge Village are authentically costumed to look like they are from the 19th century and they carry on day to day activities that took place back in history during that time.

Regular admission for adults is $20, $18 for seniors and $7 for children 3-17 years of age.  You can visit the museum a second time for free within 10 days of your first visit and any guests you bring will recieved a 25% discount off of their admission.  Come experience a peace of history and New England with your friends and family today!

Hi Karen,

It's very beautiful, especially this time of the year.  The leaves are all changing and the weather is mild...with the exception of the chilly mornings.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sincerely,

Kathleen

Jeff & I stopped at Old Sturbridge Village last week but it was late in the day and we decided to wait until we can get there earlier to take in all they have to offer! Looking forward to my first visit; I'll let you know what we think!

Maybe you can let us know when you guys decide to go.  James has never been and we'd love to take the kids sometime.  It'd be more fun with a few extra adults walking around helping round up the runaways!  LOL

Sincerely,

Kathleen
