Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg! I bet you looked at that name and thought to yourself "Whoa!". LOL Try and say it, I don't believe that I can but I know some locals on the lake that could. Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, also known as Webster Lake, is located close to the Connecticut border. It is 1,442 acres, 3.25 miles in length and has 17 miles of shoreline. It is split between 3 sections that are all connected by small channels: North Pond, Middle Pond and South Pond. The widest point is on middle pond with a width of 1.125 miles. North Pond has 5.78 miles of shore, Middle Pond has 7.06 and South Pond has 4.17 miles of shoreline. Memorial Beach is a fun place to visit when the weather is warm, it is an 11 acre beach on the lake open to the public. Webster Lake is a great party lake. If you're looking to meet people and have a really good time on the water, this is the place to be in Central Mass. Webster Lake features several waterfront restaurants, 1 full service marina and a second marina with the lake's only dockside place to gas up your boat. There are 7-8 islands on the lake, some with homes built on them.
So where did the name Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg come from? It 
comes from Nipmuc, an Algonquian language, and means "Fishing Place at the Boundaries--Neutral Meeting Grounds". There was also a translation believed to be "You fish on your side, I fish on my side, and nobody fish in the middle." That translation was a hoax that was believed to come from the late Laurence J. Daly, a Worcester newspaper correspondent. Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg is often cited as the longest place name in the US and one of the longest in the world!
