I'm a very independent person so I tend to work more from home. One of my reasons for doing this is I have small, young children at home, but another reason is because I'm very social. I'm always afraid I won't get anything done if I'm in a busy office surrounded by my peers. I'm the first to jump in and offer my help or suggestions.
How about you? Does working at the office help motivate you or hold you back? Today I've been working in our Worcester office and I have mixed feelings on it. I've practiced some scripts that I don't usually use and have made a few calls that I probably wouldn't have made from home. I've also spent a lot of time catching up on what's going on in the office place and other local agent's businesses while eating a tasty bread bowl with french onion soup from Panera Bread. (That alone is worth the drive into Worcester for work!)
As I sit here and work I see lots of friendly faces coming and going and it's hard not to stop and want to chat with them. It is important to build those relationships with your peers. At the same time I have this guilty feeling come over me like I could be doing more if I was working privately in a quiet space. Maybe working from the office is something I can do on a weekly or even every other day basis, but not sure I could commit to everyday.
It is nice not having screaming kids in the background while trying to make calls, but sometimes the other agents on the phones can be just as distracting.
