YOUMAIL - WHAT A GREAT FORM OF TECHNOLOGY
While networking and following up with friends on Facebook, I learned about this great form of technology called YouMail. A friend posted on her Facebook status that she hated voicemail and people should just text her if they wanted to find her. Someone commented that she should really try YouMail, so I was curious. I logged onto their website to check out what it was since I had never heard of this before.
YouMail provides a visiual voicemail solution for free. For a small, additional monthly cost you can add transcripts of your voicemails sent to you via text, email or both. I have not upgraded to the transcripts at this time, but I am really enjoying the free visual voicemail service from YouMail. You can record custom greetings for each caller or for groups that you can setup online. You can avoid having to ever call your voicemail and entering a pin number with their on phone application that will play the voicemail over your speaker phone with one click. Want to hear those messages privately? You can set the voicemail number to your phone's speedial and easily call it and listen to the voicemail without entering a pin.
YouMail will text and email you if you would like, with all of your voicemails and missed calls. I hear that this works even when your phone is turned off, but I always have it on so I can't speak from experience on that one.
I currently am using a Blackberry Curve on the Verizon network. If you are on Sprint, I'm sorry, but this service won't be free to you because Sprint charges you to use call forwarding and that is essentially what you are doing when using this free product. Instead of sending them to your regular voicemail, you are forwarding them to this service that can allow you to save your messages, send them, mark them as spam or whatever you need to do. It will keep you very organized and is very fun to use.
Just a few of the custom greetings are: "Sorry, you've reached a number that has been disconnected", a smart greeting that will answer your caller by name "Hi James, Kathleen is unavailable right now, but if you leave her a message she'll get back to you as soon as she can.", or you can record your own for each individual or group that you setup. The service even knows who has left me a voicemail when the caller is not saved in my phone. For example, Zillow tried to call me the other day, their name came up on the voicemail so I knew before I heard the message who it was. Cool, right?
I'm loving it, check it out and let me know what you think!
