The Social Media Seminar That Rocked My World!
Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend a social media seminar out in Newton, Massachusetts. One of the sponsors and speakers was online friend Richard Vetstein. Richard is an attorney and founding partner of Vetstein Law Group, Vice President of Title Hub Closing Services LLC and Founder/Chief Social Media Officer of HubConnected LLC providing social media solutions to real estate professionals. The first time Richard stood out to me is when I came across his ActiveRain Law Blog. We friended on Facebook and were able to keep in touch that way from across the state. We met and talked social media at RainCamp in Boston and when I saw his name on the email invite to this Social Media Seminar I knew I needed to attend.
Yesterday's seminar exceeded my already high expectations. Partnered up with Shamrock Financial, Real Estate Inner Circle and Westcor Land Title Insurance Company, this social media seminar rocked my world! Described as an "uber social media agent" by HubConnected, even my head was spinning with all of the great info thrown out to us throughout the day. I was jotting down ideas and websites on a notepad as fast as I could and transferring my notes into my iPad to have access to them on all of my computers and phone.
-Social Media is anyone can add to it media.
Shalimar Albanese was the first speaker and is with Shamrock Financial. She showed us all of the ways that our marketing can be blocked and stressed the importance of inbound marketing. The thing that she said that I could most relate to is the fact that social media is a cocktail party without time & place constraints. As a mother of 4 young children with demanding needs & school schedules, I can't always make it to early networking events such as the BNI or evening Chamber functions. Social media has been an extraordinary way for me to meet a lot of people in a little time. On a weekly basis I have people coming up to me in person that are friends of mine on Facebook and they all say the same thing "I feel like I've known you forever".

Richard Vetstein and Patrick Maddigan from HubConnected discussed the importance of blogging, Facebook, Twitter and the new QR Codes. Your blog should be the central location for your social media strategy. It can then branch out to your Facebook & Twitter accounts providing your followers with great hyper local content. Being a blogger since January 2007 on ActiveRain I can attest to this. Facebook is a little more simple for agents to get started with, so definitely start there if you're feeling overwhelmed about blogging. Facebook is the most visited of all social networks.
John & Jarred Alexandrov closed out the seminar discussing The 8 Current Real Estate Trends Every Top Income Earner Has and How You Can Adopt Them FAST. They informed us of the mind blowing statistic that 42% of agents don't respond to incoming leads ever. Create & know your profit and loss statement and keep working on improving your profits. Spend 80% of your time doing income producing activities.
-The more people you talk to, the more business you will do.
Thank you to everyone that sponsored and shared at this great event. I will definitely be sharing more of what I've learned with my local networks in hopes that I can help them increase their business as well from this valuable social media knowledge. Check back for future blog posts!
