Age is Just a Number and Experience is the Ability to Learn

You hear it all of the time - age is just a number.  Some people look down on age...they say "you're too young" or maybe it's "you're too old".  I say it is just a number.  Whether you're a 20 year old business person or an 80 year old driver on the road, it's just a number.  We all mature at different rates.  Some are mentally a lot older than their actual age and others never seem to mature.  You will meet intelligent 25 year olds that know how to present themselves and then you'll meet a 50 year old that's as immature as if he were 15!  Okay, with age comes wisdom, I'll give you that.  I agree that you live and you learn, but that doesn't make a younger person incapable of the same great things an older person can accomplish

You learn from your mistakes and it's what you do from there that gives you experience.  Do you repeat history or do you perfect it?  Do you wallow in the past or look forward to the future?  My husband and I have opened one of the most beautiful offices in the area.  We are bright, optimistic and full of life.  We have a lot to share with the community and the real estate industry.  Ask our clients, there is something very different about us and that's what makes us shine.  It's been hard to get seasoned agents to check out our company.  Having one of the best places to work and one of the best commission split packages around, we know it has a lot to do with 2 factors - age and experience.  No, we have not been around for 20 years and no, we're not older.  But ask yourself this, what is age really?  What about experience?  That is great that your broker carries 30 listings at a time and has been in the business their entire life - 20+ years.  What does that do for your business?  Do they make time for you?  Do they share business with you?  Do you have a nice private place to write up offers with your clients or view listings online with them?

Age is just a number and experience is just the ability to learn and grow.  Everything is always changing in the real estate industry.  Markets change, your marketing should change and you should be consistently looking to improve.  I'm confident that with time we will earn the trust of other agents in the area, but until then, we'll keep getting our new agents trained and growing them into the top producing agents of the area.
