Feel The Pleasure Rather Than Avoid The Pain - Live It In All Areas of Life
Co-mingling at a REALTOR Affiliate Appreciation Night I got to talking with some friends of mine. In our discussion one of them mentioned a quote by Anthony Robbins that talks about people doing things for 2 reasons: to Feel Pleasure or to Avoid Pain. Now I've recently heard this another time, but it's what he said after that really sunk it into my brain.
In real estate we have to map out what we will and will not do to earn a living and
establish our careers. What Brian said that really struck me was when he related it to real estate. Lets look at cold calling. So many agents avoid it like the plague, they have a fear of it. But when you apply the feeling of pleasure rather than pain, that cold call could just land you a $6,000 commission check. Try that on for size! Are you really going to let a few rude people and hangups stop you from going after those $6,000 commissions? I hope not! Brian just gave me a new inspiration to make those calls and not fear the phone.
If you have to, post a sticky note on your laptop reminding yourself that 1 call could = $6,000. You need to weed through and find those golden nuggets if you want to boost up your sales. A very simple thing to do, yet so overlooked.
Doing things for one of those 2 reasons seems to be true if you look back at all of your past actions. It is a great thing to be aware of when you're facing your daily choices.
